Hi there! I'm Sam Zook, and I run Heirloom Woodshop. My shop and work are the culmination of years of inspiration in my own life, and a passion for making things. There's a unique joy and satisfaction for me in making something special, and then seeing the new owner's reaction when they receive it.

When I was young, I had a grandfather-figure in my life that had been working wood for much longer than I’ve been around. I can still remember the smell of his shop, the warmth of the sunlight coming through the windows, and the joy brought by the things that he made. He even made a few things for me back then, and they’re still some of my most precious possessions.

Since then, I’ve grown up and started working with wood myself. As I grew up, got married, and started a family, my wife and I inherited several pieces of furniture that have been passed down through various generations in our family. The ubiquitous rocking chair—one that’s held 6 generations of my family. A massive oak china cabinet whose history has yet to be fully uncovered. And a custom child’s crib, built by one of my uncles for my parents to use I was an infant.

I don’t just make furniture, I make memories

All of our homes are furnished with items that see use every day, and they have the ability to carry the memories of that use with them. A rocking chair passed from parent to child; a dining table where the whole family gathers every night to eat, talk, and laugh; a hall table that doubles as a treasure chest of family photos. These are my inspiration, and Heirloom Woodshop exists to bring those memories to you, too.

I want to build something to carry your family’s memories through to the next generation. It can be a center-piece that people will talk about, or just a simple item that sits in a corner, quietly carrying on the family legacy.
